Established in 1926 we have been caring for the eyes of the people of Whitley Bay for over 95 years. Our current owners are, Whitley Bay resident, Chris Steven and his brother Mark. They are the 4th generation of Optometrists in the Steven family, with their Great-Grandfather having founded what is now Advanced Vision in Tynemouth (although this passed from the Steven family ownership prior to the 2nd World War). Our aim is to stock the most exciting frame ranges available on the High Street sourced from Paris, Denmark and Austria. We use Carl Zeiss precision lenses which offer outstanding optical clarity. 1-year Warranty On All Complete Glasses Purchased.
We offer, at no extra charge, a peace of mind 1-year warranty on all complete glasses (frame and lenses) purchased with coated lenses. This includes accidental damage. So even if you dog chews them, as long as you can show us the remnants of your glasses, we will repair or replace them free of charge, up to a year, from the date of purchase.
Varifocal Lens Expertise.
Not all varifocals are created equal. At Steel and Varley the majority of our varifocals are supplied by Zeiss, who make the finest quality lenses available. The vision and the reading areas out of Zeiss varifocals will be superior to most other brands. So sure are we that we use the best varifocals available that we offer a free varifocal trial. If you don't love your varifocals within 2 weeks of collection then return them to us and we'll refund you in full.
Flexible Payment Options.
We are able to offer several payment options to suit every situation. If more convenient, we can split the cost of complete new glasses over a number of months, in order to suit you best. No credit checks are involved.
